A Bible Believing Repentance Seeking Evangelising Arch-Bishop

John Sentamu is a Bible believing Arch-Bishop with tremendous gifts in evangelism. From past experience I know that he preaches the need for repentance and I was pleased to read that last week hundreds of people committed their lives to Jesus Christ following an invitation by the Archbishop of York at the Church Without Walls National Gathering in Scotland.

John Sentamu said, "The National Gathering was a tremendous event. I was thrilled and excited to see so many people come forward and commit their lives to Jesus Christ."

We need to pray for him and his work. When John came into office a couple of years ago now, he said that his mission was to give the church the confidence back to evangelize this nation. He is doing a good job!

Comments here are deleted mainly because of filthy language of one post and others lacking any constructive comment.

Steve you are welcome to comment but please keep it constructive - if you can. I will not allow you to hijack this sight. In return

Anonymous it is a shame that because of your attitude which is full of hatred I will have to put on comment moderation. You will not be allowed to put on such filth on my blog again - but I am praying for you.

Ok, thank you!

(KJV) Matthew Chapter 6

Jesus said;

5. And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
Thanks for this Steve

Jesus was obviously talking about the pharisees who made a big show of prayer so that they looked important. Christians should not do this - the motive for prayer has got to be to build the Kingdom of God.

Remember Jesus also said 'When you pray' as he led his disciples into what we now call 'The Lord's prayer'.

Not quite sure what I've just stepped into, so with trepidation I merely offer that our prayers ahould also be for those who have made a commitment of faith that they find good supportive churches that enable them to continue their pilgrimage of faith.

A friendly comment! - yes you are right, a public commitment isn't the be all and end all and is not the absolute sign of being born again. We need to pray for these newly committed Christians as well as the Arch Bishop

Hi Neil.

I wonder if Desmond Tutu, Church Army's president as you know, would be classed as a 'bible-believing, repentance-seeking person'? Yet i think he speaks wonderfully of the reality of God - Michael Buerk cites Tutu as the biggest challenge to his atheism, as does my father.

Admittedly, no altar calls or grand displays of repentance or orthodoxy (as was, i think, one of Steven's points) - but then the Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed.

Matt 7:21-23

‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord”, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?” Then I will declare to them, “I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.”'

Well, harsh words, bring harsh comments.

Your version/interpretation of the Gospel was/is brought on by your life experiences.

It isn't good to be solid as a rock, when one is so young. Actually it isn't good to be Solid as a Rock on anything other than your Faith in God and Christ, ..beyond that,..it's learning...

Till You Die.
