FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

Had this sent to me via e-mail:don't know if it is true -hope so!

In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover Holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days... The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days..

The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, How can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays..".

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.' Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned."

You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!

Har har har, never heard that one before. (eye-roll)

I hope you don't actually think that this happened, Neil.

Why would someone even go to *court* for a holiday? It makes no sense.

But, go ahead and make fun of us, since we both know that your claim of having "a passion for the 'least, the last and the lost'" is either just for show, or you have an incredibly strange way of showing such "passion".

Maybe a passion for mockery? Sure.
Sorry if this offends you. Thought it was a light amusing look at atheism - it was not ment to offend any particular person. When I am at my best - I have found that it is good to laugh at one's self too! It certainly doesn't mean that I am any less passionate for individuals who do not know Jesus. Take care. Neil

Didn't offend me, Neil.

It's just a really old and hoary joke.

I also find it strange, as I mentioned above, that you mock the same people that you supposedly have a passion for.

Lastly, how is this in any way a "look at atheism", amusing or otherwise? This in no way is representative of atheism. Also, laughing at one's self is different from laughing at others. In other words, a Christian making a joke about Christians is quite different than a non-Christian making a joke about Christians, right?

Right.
The intention is not to mock anyone - but would say that anyone who denies God has as God's Word states foolishly turned their head away from the clear signs of His existence.

Logan: the flower will wither and die - I wonder if without God - its existence - like yours and mine is futile?

Neil,

The Qur'an says the same thing about you.

Oh, wait... did I bring up an ancient holy book that you don't consider authoritative?

Exactly.

I am without God and I don't see my existence as futile.

For the record.
